Students working on math in class

EUREKA MATH/ENGAGE NY

Our math curriculum is all about building knowledge, not just skills: deep, lasting understanding rather than memorization; knowledge about the real world rather than hypothetical scenarios; consistent core skill development rather than reinventing the wheel with each lesson; and knowledge that builds upon itself for richer connections throughout the learning process. Every child has unlimited potential and is capable of greatness.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS

The Teachers College Reading and Writing Project (TCRWP) is an approach to literacy instruction for students in elementary and middle schools with two primary goals: to improve students’ reading and writing, and to help children become lifelong, confident readers and writers who display agency and independence through work with teachers, collaboration with peers, and independent work.

Students learning social studies

SOCIAL STUDIES

The New York City K-8 Scope and Sequence is a comprehensive resource that integrates national standards, the New York State Social Studies Core Curriculum (content, concepts, key ideas, understandings and performance indicators) and the NYS K-8 Social Studies Framework. Each yearly course of study is organized around a suggested time frame for core content guided by essential questions.

Students doing a hands-on science investigation

SCIENCE

Amplify Science is a science curriculum that blends hands-on investigations, literacy-rich activities, and interactive digital tools to empower students to think, read, write, and argue like real scientists and engineers. It is designed to spark our middle school students’ interest and empower them to ask more questions, think more critically, and generate innovative ideas.

Students using computers for technology class

TECHNOLOGY

The Technology Club helps with technology repairs around the school and gives students a place to practice and strengthen their technology skills. In class, students use Minecraft: Education Edition and Scratch for block-based coding.

Students creating artwork in visual arts class

VISUAL ARTS

Our Visual Arts program gives students the opportunity to explore drawing, painting, design, and mixed media while developing creativity, self-expression, and an appreciation for art and artists from many cultures. Students learn the elements of art and principles of design, reflect on their own work and the work of others, and showcase their artwork throughout the school year.
